1200 On the Mall

Originally built in 1977, the green roof courtyard for the 1200 on the Mall condo association, needed to be rebuilt. The waterproofing was failing, the green roof needed to be reimagined. The original design was sterile and underutilized (only a small patio with 6 trees and mostly maintenance intensive turf grass). The new design created biodiverse native planting beds along with additional patio spaces for residents to enjoy. There are three large patio spaces that include wood arbors, grills, tables and chairs. The design concept was influenced by mid-century modern philosophies and curvilinear forms that express an amoeba flowing layout. Overall, there are 270 units enjoying their new green elevated oasis.
