Jake Halsne

Associate

Jake is an Associate at DF/ with five years of experience. During his time at the studio, he has contributed to a wide range of projects, including parks, play environments, trails, and housing developments. However, what truly defines Jake is not just the types of projects he works on, but his design process, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. His passion for the details drives him to find ways to bring design concepts to life in ways that are both beautiful and practical, while remaining economical and sustainable.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Jake’s love for the state’s natural landscapes sparked his interest in landscape architecture and his desire to make a positive impact in his community. This passion led him to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where he earned both a Bachelor of Environmental Design and a Master of Landscape Architecture.

Jake blends his professional work with his passion for skateboarding as co-chair of the Midwest Skateboarding Alliance, a non-profit that advocates for skatepark development in the Twin Cities. He’s also a certified drone pilot, running his own drone photography business and capturing aerial imagery for DF/. Out of the office, don’t be surprised to find Jake on his bike, skateboard, or at the hockey rink!

“If you look close enough, you can find wonder wherever you are. No matter the size of the project, I believe that landscape architecture has the power to bring wonder to the forefront and enrich our everyday lives.”
