Private St. Paul Plaza

Damon Farber worked with the client’s architect to re-envision their under-utilized plaza deck space in the downtown St. Paul Minnesota headquarters building. The result is a welcoming, flexible space that strengthens a sense of entry to the building while also providing passive and active amenity space. Multi-colored and unit-sized paving areas with an artificial turf green divide the space into outdoor rooms, while a pergola provides a human-scale vertical backdrop at the plaza perimeter. Planters, site furniture, and lighting were carefully coordinated to tie-back to the plaza aesthetics and create optimal use with minimal maintenance. Four season interest is reflected in the planting palette to help users enjoy this spot of nature year-round.
