Minnehaha Play Area

Two play areas that fall within a historic district were renovated within Minnehaha Regional Park. The renovations pay homage to traditional classic play, finished with subdued colors to protect the historic views within the site. A distinct approach was used for each play area. The Wabun site is the first universal access playground in the Minneapolis Park system. More than 70% of the play features in this area are accessible. The North Plateau site successfully incorporates historic pieces with new equipment to increase the playground activities and maintain the high historic integrity.
