Institute of Childhood Development
Expansion of the University of Minnesota Institute of Child Development, considered a national leader in child development research and teaching, will provide the Institute with new, modern, and updated research facilities. Damon Farber Associates, in collaboration with RSP Architects and University staff is creating a landscape design that supports Campus Master Plan goals and aligns with the Institute of Childhood Development’s Mission. Outdoor spaces for collaboration, gathering, learning and observation are important program elements used by family members, teachers, student, and researchers. Landscape features include plazas, public art and green open spaces that complement the unique qualities of the historic character and mature canopies of the Knoll Area, while echoing the character, scale, form, and materials proposed on the new building.
