summer internship / 2026

Location: Minneapolis, MN or Madison, WI (please indicate your preferred office, or if applying to both)

Education Requirements: Applicants must be enrolled in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, or a related field and have at least one academic semester remaining following Summer 2026.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Interns will work closely with Principals, Associates, and Designers to advance the firm’s commitment to creating spaces and places that are memorable, reflect sensitivity to the environment, incorporate client goals and demonstrate design excellence and rigor. They are expected to actively participate and seek to understand not only the tasks that push forward design, but how these actions fit into the overall process of creating memorable spaces.

 

SUPPORT​​

Interns assist project teams with design, graphics, and documentation tasks while maintaining clear communication with project managers. Responsibilities include collaborating with team members, managing assigned tasks and deadlines, developing skills in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Rhino, and contributing thoughtfully to project discussions.

PARTICIPATE​​

Interns contribute to firm committees and initiatives that support design excellence, operations, and office culture. This includes assisting with committee efforts, completing assigned tasks, and offering ideas that strengthen firm processes and collaboration.

LEARN​​

Interns gain exposure to professional practice through mentorship, project work, and participation in DF standards and workflows. This experience builds upon academic training and provides insight into the diverse scope and process of landscape architecture.
