Internship Duration: May – August 2021
Application Period: March 15- April 15, 2021 and we will contact the intern shortlist by April 29, 2021
Education Requirements: Applicants must have at least one semester of study remaining after summer 2021.
Together with DF Associates, Principals, and Designers, interns will participate in the firm's promise to clients to create spaces and places that are memorable, reflect sensitivity to the environment, incorporate client goals and demonstrate design excellence and rigor. They are expected to participate actively and seek to understand not only the tasks to complete but how they fit into the overall process of creating memorable spaces.
Interns will be responsible for the efficient completion of project tasks, participating in all aspects of a project as required by the person managing the project. Consistent communication with the project manager is critical to understanding what is expected. Tasks include:
Collaboration with all design team members.
Understanding tasks and how much time is available to complete them.
Listening to and understanding the person managing the project but also challenging them and making good ideas better.
Communicating with clients in a positive manner and working through project challenges with an optimistic attitude focused on resolution.
Interns will serve on firm committees that focus on sustained improvement of the firm and reflect firm values in all they do. Tasks include:
Helping committees create a vision for the coming year and 90 day period.
Complete tasks on time and with the necessary rigor.
Offering your creative ideas/questions.
Interns will get the opportunity to learn how professional practice differs from studio work. The techniques learned in school will serve as a foundation for additional skills required for professional practice. Tasks include:
Participation in the DF mentorship program aimed at improving core competencies including design process, representation, documentation, and research.
Following DF standards and processes to ensure a consistent brand and efficient collaboration between team members
