Damon
Farber Associates
was involved in the master planning of this 36 acre site as well
as the site design that has resulted in the campus character and
unified nature of new and existing facilities. The site plan adds
four new buildings, significant surface parking and major open spaces
in a manner that respects the regional architectural style and need
for low maintenance self-sustaining plant materials.
Careful
consideration was given to the needs of personnel for clarity of
organization, sense of arrival, melding of function and aesthetics.
The need to address flexibility within the plan responds to the
manner in which the site is used in an on-going and varied manner
depending upon base requirements.
The
main entry drive is planted with boulevard trees and ornamental
trees. Landscaping around the OMS and Training Center is defined
by shade trees accented with ornamental trees, shrubs and groundcovers
adjacent to entries. Foundation shrubs and sod surround the building.
MEP parking is screened with a combination of deciduous and evergreen
plantings.
Damon
Farber Associate's responsibility included plant materials
selection, paving and parking lot layout irrigation plans, coordination
with civil engineering team members and plaza design. As part of
the planning and design process, Damon Farber Associates worked
closely with other team members to insure the resulting, coordinated
and cost effective solution.
