City
of Centerville has seen increased pressure for the development of
residential areas within the City. Anticipating future pressure
within the historic downtown to provide goods and services to support
the residential growth, the City asked Damon Farber Associates to
lead a community driven process to define new standards for downtown
development. The standards integrate the City’s unique history
and desire for a quality downtown environment that residents could
visit with their families. The
result is a set of guidelines and priorities for future development
within the downtown.
DFA worked closely with Benshoof & Associates on developing
a transportation network that would facilitate future development.
Coordination with Anoka County on future improvements to CSAH 14
and 21 were integral to developing a plan that met community needs
and the realities of operating
a State Highway.
Damon Farber Associates was charged with creating a plan that would
meet County and State Aid Design Standards, and meet the needs of
the community. The result is an innovative three-lane configuration
that
incorporates bike lanes, planted medians, and enhanced pedestrian
amenities along this section of America’s Great River Road.
