Il Dong Spa Resort Development

Damon Farber Associates worked closely with Parker Durrant International to develop Il Dong Spa Resort, and create a completely foreign, never seen before experience, that brings to the surface a sense of discovery in a place were everything is new.  The design intent was to help visitors renew that child like curiosity through the use of elements, space composition, and the evolving sensory experience throughout the resort.

The architecture is evocative and draws inspiration from many lands, cultures, mythologies and fantasies to build a sense of never before seen, yet somewhat familiar buildings, landscapes and places. All of this is done in order to contrast the home environment so the guest feels they are in a very special place far away place, even if home is only minutes away.A place of variety and choice.  Quiet places, activity places, private places, athletic places and exclusive places give guests choices. Choice is what draws visitors to explore and return to experience something new or visit a personal favorite.

The site has a wonderful complexity of contour that can be used to sculpt exterior and interior environments.  This is used for developing variation, low, wide, flat, tall, compressed and released, all is used to create exciting, rich, memorable environments.
