Veterans' Memorial Amphitheater
St. Louis Park , MN

A five hundred person Veterans’ Memorial Amphitheater in St. Louis Park Minnesota, provides a unique public open space for community events and allows handicap access from adjacent Wolfe Park to the new retail and housing development, Excelsior & Grand.

Featured within the site is the Memorial wall. Dedicated to those who served our nation, the 10 foot tall concrete wall includes three wall-mounted flagpoles, two plaques representing the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, bronze medallions dedicated to each of the five branches of the armed forces, and a silhouette of the Iwo Jima Memorial.

Also unique for this amphitheater is the handicap access to nearly every seating section in the site. Thanks to an accessible concrete paver pathway that winds through the theater, visitors may access the grassy terraces. Visitors have the option of laying out blankets on the grass or sitting on the seat walls. The lowest terrace allows wheelchair users to occupy cut-out areas so that their companions may sit side by side.

Truly a democratic gesture and amenity to be proud of, the city and its visitors have a public gathering space and memorial to enjoy for many years.
