Farber Associates is working with Sunrise Senior Living to provide
safe and attractive outdoor spaces for their assisted and independent
living residences in Minnesota and Michigan. In general these residences
provide walking paths and outdoor living spaces in a range of sizes
and configurations providing a distinctly residential feel. The
priority is to provide a secure and peaceful environment for social,
educational and leisure activities which may include gardening.
Sensory gardens
are provided to enhance experiences for seeing, smelling, hearing,
and touching. Seating is placed strategically in these gardens for
functionality and to maximize enjoyment of these spaces. Pergolas
and gazebos are focal points providing shady areas for resident
gatherings, and path-ways are designed and paved to accommodate
wheel chair use. In addition raised planting beds provide easy access
to plants for all garden users, and are especially helpful to the
vision impaired and wheelchair users.
