Minnesota Zoo - Woodland Adventure
Apple Valley, MN
Described as being "not just another playground," the new Woodland Adventure is the most recent addition to the Minnesota Zoo. Damon Farber Associates was challenged with creating a space that would engage the user with nature, encourage exploring, be imaginative and creative for children, and feature design elements that make it at home in Minnesota. Some of the unique features are a tree house with a rope bridge, split-rock lighthouse replica, spider web to climb on, and a giant mosquito. Also located in the playground are replica fish, a bears den with mother and cub, giant turtle shells that kids can climb in, an eagle's nest with oversized eggs, and hanging from the tree-house is a larger than life oriole's nest swing.
