Minnesota Zoo - Tiger Lair

"As part of our ongoing commitment to conservation and education the Zoo has developed the Tiger Lair exhibit to help people better understand the world of wild tigers and the threats that they face."

Coming 'eye to eye' with a Siberian Tiger is a possibility now realized at the Minnesota Zoo. Damon Farber associates was challenged with designing an environment that would reflect the native habitat of the Siberian Tiger and create a unique and safe place for visitors to learn about and experience the tigers first hand.

The Tiger Lair, nestled amongst large rock formations, is covered by a heavy timber structure designed by Damon Farber Associates. Three glass panels provide excellent views of the exhibit and can be fully accessed by the Tigers. Throughout the winter heated rocks near the viewing glass will encourage the Tigers to come face to face with their onlookers.
