The challenge for Damon Farber Associates was to create a concept to enhance an existing site. By introducing a unifying and cohesive visual character it was possible to create a sense of place to a site that was dominated by a large and aging building. The site offered a variety of existing landscapes which had been neglected over time and that provided a wonderful opportunity upon which to build. The design concept, which was implemented by the owner’s landscape contractor, promotes welcome and intimacy.

This pedestrian oriented character is reflected through the introduction of sculpture, special planting and site furnishings throughout the landscape and along a pathway system that links the main building with a series of outdoor spaces for dining, passive recreation and refl ection. What was a tired campus has become a vibrant, functional and aesthetic solution through a collaborative effort among the designers and the client.
