MSUM Master Plan Study
Mankato, MN
Damon Farber Associates teamed with Paulsen Architects to assist Minnesota State University Mankato (MSUM) on the development of a plan for guiding future growth of the campus. MSUM sits on 300 acres overlooking the Minnesota River in Mankato, Minnesota. The MSUM campus vision was to enhance the unique bluff top setting, extend the pedestrian mall as the main organizing element on campus and to develop a set of design standards that would provide direction to future administrations, architects and planners when implementing individual buildings or projects on campus.
Damon Farber Associates was responsible for improving the overall image of the campus, addressing pedestrian patterns, open space development, hierarchy of signage elements, and providing a palette of standards to sensitively integrate future construction. A new transit hub and parking ramp, multiple new academic and residential buildings, recreation improvements, and enhanced pedestrian connections had to be unified into a clear, consistent vision for the campus.
